What is South Hadley Reads?

South Hadley Reads was begun in 2002 as a cooperative effort of The Odyssey Bookshop, Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley Public Library, Gaylord Memorial Library and the South Hadley Senior Center, with sponsorship from PeoplesBank and PIP Printing. It is intended to engage the community in a common reading of a selected book each year.

Please note that participants do not have to be from South Hadley. We welcome anyone with an interest in discussing our chosen book.

Community members partake in South Hadley Reads by reading the selected novel and also by participating in book discussions and other community events.  The main goals of this program is to both encourage reading, spark discussion, and promote community involvement

South Hadley Reads is one of hundreds of citywide reading programs now being sponsored throughout the United States.
